Reference Technical Standards
It is possible to carry out verifications according to the following regulations.
DM 1996
DM 2008
DM 2018
Fields of Application
The program allows you to choose and the type of superstructure of which the wall will be composed and the type of foundation on which it will rest. So we will have, for the part in elevation these three possibilities:
- Wall with full vestments
- Reinforced concrete retaining wall with recesses.
- Wall with buttresses
For the foundation, on the other hand, we have:
- Full foundation (audience)
- Foundation with key
- Foundation on poles.
In addition, it is possible to indicate whether the wall is made of reinforced concrete or gravity (the selection of this last type does not allow the realization of superstructures with buttresses and foundations with slings and on poles).
Calculation Methods
The calculation of the active and passive static thrust of the ground on the wall is carried out according to two possible theories: the Theory of Coulomb and the Theory of Rankine. Whereas for the seismic thrust we refer to the Theory of Mononobe Okabe or the Theory of Hood.
Input Data
The first step is to indicate the type of wall to be designed or tested. Next, you need to specify the length of the foundation stretch. If this value is entered, the software automatically calculates the soil tension using the Brinch-Hansen formula; otherwise, it will be possible to enter it manually at a later time.
After this initial phase, the main window of the program is opened, where you can define:
Wall geometry
Stratigraphy of the ground downstream, upstream and below the wall
Applied loads, both distributed and concentrated
Once this configuration is complete, you move to the General Calculation Data section, where you can enter or modify key parameters for the analysis, including:
Theory used to calculate ground thrust
Parameters for seismic analysis
Contribution of cohesion and passive resistance
Effects of hydrostatic thrust
Then, in the Materials window, you can enter or modify the strength parameters of the materials used in the calculation. Finally, in the Armature window, you define the diameters of the bars and you can modify the parameters for the structural design.
This sequence of operations allows a clear and detailed design approach, ensuring an accurate and compliant verification.
Output
Once the verification has started, the programme shall provide the results of the stability checks, including:
Rollover
Crushing
Sliding
Global stability
By activating the “Design Reinforcement” function, the design of the wall reinforcement is carried out. In the Reinforcement Design window, you can:
Generate the calculation report
View designed armour
Create the. DXF file with wall drawing
The software also produces a detailed calculation report, useful for technical documentation and project verification.
